Bulgaria offers wonderful conditions for high mountain tourism and alpinism. The most preferable places for mountaineering and alpine tourism are located in the Rila Mountains. Malyovitsa and Musala are the most visited places. The Rila mountains give an opportunity for adventure at unknown wilderness places of the nature or crossing well known and popular mountain routes (272) suitable for alpine, boulder, ice, rock, sport and traditional climbing.
Borovets is held several state championships in ski mountaineering course "speed climb", organized by the Bulgarian Federation of climbing and mountaineering.
